On November 6, 2025, the RhAInland Day will take place in Siegburg. The goal is to make AI tangible and experiential for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Many SMEs face major challenges – business models from the past need to be transformed and made fit for the future. This is not only due to a changing economy, but also because of demographic shifts and new uncertainties under which companies must operate today. The inaugural RhAInland Day aims to give companies the opportunity to dive deeper into AI and experience hands-on examples.
What companies can expect at RhAInland Day
Companies participating in RhAInland Day will have the chance to experience an innovative AI conference specifically designed for SMEs and benefit from a practice-oriented program. The event is aimed at managing directors, innovation leaders, and those interested in digital and technical topics, offering insights into current developments in artificial intelligence, digitalization, and automation in a business context. The program includes keynotes by renowned experts such as Ranga Yogeshwar, interactive workshops, deep-dives into practical use cases, and discussion formats that focus on the concrete benefits of AI for companies.
The extensive networking opportunities promote exchange between companies, research, and politics, creating possibilities for cooperation and tangible knowledge transfer. In addition, companies can expect an exhibition area with live demos, hands-on AI applications, and the opportunity to connect with regional and national thought leaders. Participation provides important impulses for the strategic development and digitalization of SMEs in the Rhineland region. Naturally, amber will be there as well!
amber’s role at RhAInland Day
As a regional provider, it is especially important for us to connect with our customers at such events. That is why we will be present both as an exhibitor at the AI fairground – making AI truly tangible – and as a host of a Workshop, where we will dive in deeply.
Workshop at RhAInland Day
SMEs face massive challenges that have built up over the years and are becoming increasingly urgent. IT infrastructures that evolved with file servers, Outlook, and later with M365, intranets, or DMS systems are often difficult to navigate today and lead to data silos. This lack of transparency makes it harder to access important information and hinders efficiency. At the same time, demographic change means valuable knowledge carriers are leaving companies – often taking irreplaceable know-how with them. In addition, the pressure is rising to handle more complex processes in shorter and shorter timeframes, while employees increasingly rely on uncontrolled external online tools, creating security risks and potential data loss.
This is exactly where AI provides a tangible solution. The goal is not to follow hype, but to solve real problems: recurring processes can be automated, data silos broken down, and knowledge preserved sustainably. One of the simplest use cases: an internal AI search engine that enables employees to better access company knowledge. Our workshop focuses exactly on this – practice-oriented and tailored to the needs of SMEs. We show how AI can be deeply integrated into existing IT infrastructures to create transparency and efficiency, and we walk you through concrete use cases that can be implemented immediately. With real examples and best practices, we make AI tangible and show how companies can actively shape the future of work – not through theory, but through solutions that work in everyday life.
What visitors can learn at amber’s booth at RhAInland Day
amber was founded in 2020 with the mission of making internal knowledge accessible to all employees. At that time, the team around founders Igli Manaj, Philipp Reißel, and Bastian Maiworm developed an internal AI search engine modeled after Google. With the hype around ChatGPT, the AI search was expanded with additional use cases and products. Today, the amber team, now over 35 people strong, offers the following solutions:
- amberSearch: amberSearch is Google for the enterprise, helping employees quickly and easily access internal knowledge. With more than 30 connectors to various systems, amber makes company knowledge instantly accessible. One question – and amber finds the right answer.
- amberAI: More and more companies are exploring how to use AI in everyday work. Often the first instinct is to deploy a CompanyGPT – a kind of ChatGPT for the enterprise. That’s exactly what amber offers with amberAI. amberAI is an AI assistant that can be used with various AI models. It can also build on amberSearch to enable chat interactions with internal data.
- amberAgents: For all recurring use cases, users can build AI agents on amber. These AI agents can be used for tasks such as writing reports, drafting job references, formatting information, or chatting with tender documents. amber’s AI agents can also be equipped with various skills to cover different areas of responsibility.

4 Questions – 2 Perspectives: Mini-interview with Cord Schmidt (Organizer of RhAInland Day) & Bastian Maiworm (CEO amber)
RhAInland Day is organized by Just Forward, a Berlin-based AI consultancy. We asked Cord Schmidt, founder and CEO of Just Forward, and Bastian Maiworm, CEO of amber, 4 questions to get their perspectives on AI:
Question 1: Why do SMEs need AI – practically speaking – right now?
- Cord Schmidt (Just Forward): “Many companies have the technical maturity, but they lack the entry point: where to start without rebuilding everything? There are still too few touchpoints between SMEs and AI. What’s missing is a format for exchange, to experience AI. And development is moving forward rapidly. Anyone who wants to be part of it must start now. That’s exactly why RhAInland Day is the perfect platform.”
- Bastian Maiworm (amber): “There are more than enough challenges in the SME sector, and solving them is not getting any easier. One of the biggest challenges is demographic change, while processes and bureaucracy are becoming increasingly complex. Here, AI can quickly create added value through automation – without the need for massive projects upfront. We’ve been observing this trend growing stronger for years. That’s why we are excited that RhAInland Day provides an opportunity to share this hands-on with SMEs.”
Question 2: What in the AI market in 2025 is substance – and what remains hype?
- Cord Schmidt (Just Forward): “Substance lies in search and knowledge copilots based on proprietary data, automation of small process chains, and clear governance. Hype is ‘AI replaces everything’ or the all-in-one solution as a silver bullet. SMEs benefit from concrete, measurable solutions – not buzzwords.”
- Bastian Maiworm (amber): “The key is focusing on the right use cases. When generated answers are referenced with sources and, for example, permissions are inherited, AI becomes productive. amber delivers exactly that – reducing time-to-answer, reusing knowledge, and increasing overall company efficiency.”
Question 3: Your tip for the first step?
- Cord Schmidt (Just Forward): “There are essentially endless AI use cases – and every company is different. Companies should start with use cases that deliver real, measurable value quickly with little effort. For us, it was a huge challenge to select the best solutions for RhAInland Day. It was important that providers solved real SME challenges. I think we succeeded – and amber is a perfect example.”
- Bastian Maiworm (amber): “Everyone is talking about AI, and almost everyone has used ChatGPT at least once professionally or privately. More and more data ends up in tools that are not approved. Still, many companies are busy discussing AI guidelines while employees act on their own. Those who want to act instead of react should provide employees with AI in a secure framework so they can learn successful usage.”
Question 4: What added value does networking at RhAInland Day bring for SMEs?
- Cord Schmidt (Just Forward): “Meet entrepreneurs facing similar challenges and providers who can solve them. We didn’t want to be a classic trade fair – we want to encourage networking and knowledge exchange. That’s why a big focus is on sharing knowledge and interaction, for example through workshops.”
- Bastian Maiworm (amber): “With amber, we solve challenges for SMEs. But often the knowledge is only superficial. We see ourselves as a partner for SMEs and want to enable exchange not only between us and SMEs, but also among SMEs themselves.”
